Work Trade Program
The work trade/sadhana* program offers retreatants the opportunity to
connect  more deeply with themselves and the 'aina  (spirit of the land)
through becoming engaged in ongoing projects at Kipukamaluhia. As well
as  supporting  the  sanctuary  it  helps  individuals  gain  strength  and
confidence  while  learning valuable gardening, building and landscaping
skills. It also benefits the daily practice of mindfulness and allows one
to be an integral part of this unfolding sanctuary.

During our time with the land we share our gifts and skills, or discover new
skills, free from the labels of "student" and "teacher."  It is a wonderful
opportunity to practice present moment awareness while engaging in
whatever projects are happening. We welcome the cultivation of action and
stillness and value doing and non-doing. These particular hours are devoted
to focused  attention.  Some people  prefer solitary projects while others
enjoy group participation.
"Move in the passageways of the self. They are like shafts of light, always changing."

It is an invitation to experience the inseparability of the living dharma
and everyday life and to cultivate nondual and ecological awareness.

Retreatants pay $55 per month and offer 20 hours per week
in exchange for lodging.  Those staying in tents receive one
private session per fortnight (every two weeks) with Rashani.
All guests buy their own food and prepare their meals.

Non work-trade guests pay $60 per night; $400 per week.
There are also two larger spaces, which rent by the week
or month. Please inquire for availability.

We prefer if you arrive by bus and we will meet you at South
Point Road. Airport pick-ups, from Hilo and Kona, are $60.
We do not provide phone, internet, or laundry service. The only cell phones
that have reception here are Cingular. For those who bring a laptop, high
speed internet access is available for $25 per month. You will need a small
inverter with which to recharge your laptop as we are off the grid..

Work trade guests are taken into Na'alehu or Ocean View twice a week,
to do laundry, make calls, and for food shopping.

Please bring a good flashlight or crank lantern, a pillow and sleeping bag,
work clothes, a hat, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, warm clothes for cool
evenings and mornings, a rain coat, refillable water bottle, and snorkeling
gear if you intend to snorkel.

No pets, alcohol, cigarettes or drugs...
*Sadhana is a committed prayer, a form of spiritual practice. It is something
which you want to do and which is mindfully being done through you. It is not
done to please somebody or to gain love and approval. Sadhana is a form of
love made manifest, a personal process in which you bring out your best.

This is what it is,
happily ever after
right in this moment.
